Fireplaces and stoves

Fireplaces and stoves are spaces to light a fire in the house for heating living areas. While fireplaces on the back wall of a room are permanently installed spots for a fireplace which give priority to the comfort of being able to watch the flames, stoves can be positioned anywhere in the room and generally prioritise heat over a view of the fire itself.

In the past, form followed function in the design of fireplaces, e.g. whether it was for the kitchen of the house or the representative fireplace in the smoking room. Today, it is entirely up to you to decide how your fireplace or stove should be decorated. What hasn’t changed is the manner in which the elegant and warm colours of the Obernkirchener Sandstein® reflect the warmth of the flames -  in exactly the same way as it did in years gone by.
